Biscuits back in win column, 7-6 in 10
Montgomery snaps 5-game losing streak

MONTGOMERY – A bases-loaded error in the 10th inning by Huntsville Stars second baseman Guilder Rodriguez gave the Montgomery Biscuits a 7-6 win at Riverwalk Stadium Friday night, snapping the Biscuits' five-game losing streak and the Stars' eight-game winning streak.

It was a back-and-forth game that required the Biscuits' bullpen to make 27 outs. Homeplate unpire Nick Nolde tossed Biscuits starter James Houser from the game in the second inning after the first pitch of the frame hit right fielder Matt LaPorta in the shoulder. An ejection of manager Billy Gardner followed.

Jeremy Flanagan pitched solid relief on little notice. He threw four innings, allowing one run and setting down the last eight he faced. On his watch, the Biscuits took a 5-1 lead.

Montgomery struck in the second inning on a single by Johnny Raburn and again in the third on a two-run homer by Gaby Martinez. A Raburn Sacrifice fly scored Sergio Pedroza in the fourth and a Martinez single scored Ronnie Merrill in the fifth.

Huntsville rallied in the sixth against Montgomery reliever Jino Gonzalez, scoring three after two walks and a double by LaPorta. The Florida alum is 7-for-12 in the series with four doubles, three homers and nine RBIs.

LaPorta had one of two Stars doubles in the eighth, and Montgomery committed two errors in the field, leading to two runs, providing the Stars the 6-5 lead.

Erold Andrus led off the Biscuits' eighth with a game-tying home run.

Andrus led off the 10th with a single, and Pedroza followed with his third walk of the game. A wild pitch moved Andrus to third and as Josh Asanovich struck out, Pedroza moved to second on defensive indifference. The Stars walked Raburn intentionally, and Eldridge's dribbler to a drawn-in infield might have made the second out of the 10th, until Rodgriguez skipped his throw home.

The Biscuits try to even the series Saturday at 7:05, with righty Richard De Los Santos on the mound.
