Biscuits even series with 8-5 win
Lookouts sloppy in loss

2nd: Andrus' base-clearing double

MONTGOMERY – The Montgomery Biscuits (1-1) took advantage of three errors by the Chattanooga Lookouts (1-1), en route to an 8-5 victory at Riverwalk Stadium Saturday night.

With the win, the Biscuits got their first victory of the season and evened up their season-opening series with the Cincinnati Reds affiliate.

Biscuits righty Wade Davis was shaky in his debut, allowing seven hits and four runs, walking two and striking out one. He was nonetheless effective enough to notch a win.

Davis twice ceded the lead to the Lookouts, allowing two first-inning runs and two more in the fifth. In the second, the Biscuits briefly captued the lead on a two-out, base-clearing double by Erold Andrus. They took the lead again in a wild fifth inning.

In that frame, the Biscuits sent eight hitters to the plate, scored twice and left the bases loaded, but did not collect a hit, thanks to two walks, a hit batsman and two Chattanooga errors. Montgomery did not trail again, adding three more runs in the sixth.

With the win, the Biscuits pulled into a tie for first place in the heretofore mediocre South Division.

The two teams will play a doubleheader Sunday at 2:05 p.m. Lefty Janes Houser and righty Richard De Los Santos pitch for Montgomery, while lefty Ben Jukich and righty Justin Mallett take the hill for Chattanooga. Both games are seven innings long.
