Suns scorch Biscuits, 9-6

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Suns evened the series with the Montgomery Biscuits with a 9-6 win in a matinee Monday morning at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.

John Lindsey cracked a third-inning, base-clearing double and Xavier Paul hit a three-run homer in the seventh in the game.

Biscuits starter Mike Prochaska (0-3) allowed five runs in his five-inning stay, suffering the loss. The bullpen was no better. Jarod Matthews, who entered to throw a perfect sixth inning, walked the bases full in the seventh. Brian Henderson did no better, allowing a run-producing groundout and Paul's three-run blast.

Montgomery scored in the second inning on a John Jaso RBI single but played from behind the rest of the game. Lefty starter Mike Megrew lasted 5 2/3 innings, allowing two runs. The Biscuits tagged Alabama native Wesley Wright for four runs in his 1 2/3 innings of relief. Evan Longoria hit a two-run homer in the seventh inning.

The teams play the rubber game of the series Tuesday morning at 10:05. Jeremy Flanagan makes a spot start for the Biscuits.
