Biscuits bash Barons again, 8-3
Davis nearly unhittable in win

2nd: Eldridge's triple drives a four-run inning

HOOVER – Wade Davis (3-1) pitched seven shutout innings at Regions Park Friday night, facing just one hitter over the minimum amount, helping the Montgomery Biscuits to an 8-3 victory over the Birmingham Barons.

Davis allowed just two singles and a walk and got two double plays behind him. Only one runner made it as far as second base as he struck out four.

Montgomery's offense hammered out four runs in the second inning on two singles, two doubles and a two-run triple by Rashad Eldridge. They added another run in the fourth after Ronnie Merrill slashed a ground rule doulbe to left and scored after two wild pitches. That fourth inning was enough to knock out Birmingham starter Kyle McCulloch, who allwed eight hits and five runs.

Montgomery added two more in the sixth on a bases-loaded double by Erold Andrus, his second double of the evening, and made it 8-0 in the eighth when a Johnny Raburn sacrifice fly scored Rashad Eldridge.

The Barons got to Montgomery's bullpen in the eighth and smacked five consecutive singles off of reliever Jeremy Flanagan, leading to three runs. Roger Deago diffused the threat, though, pitching the rest of the way.

The middle game of the series is Saturday at 7:05 p.m. Montgomery lefty James Houser will pitch.
