Suns crush Biscuits, 10-4
Eight-run seventh leads to win

MONTGOMERY – An eight-run seventh inning by the Jacksonville Suns (7-10) led the visiting club to a 10-4 victory over the Montgomery Biscuits (7-10) at Riverwalk Stadium Sunday afternoon.

The Suns sent 14 hitters to the plate in that inning, and after Ivan Ivan DeJesus hit the fourth grand slam against Biscuits relievers this season, Greg Jacobs followed with a solo shot of his own. The runs came against three different Biscuits pitchers, and every Sun scored except cleanup hitter Russell Mitchell.

The inning broke apart a 2-2 tie, built mainly with sloppy play behind prospect starters Wade Davis and Clayton Kershaw.

The Biscuits struck first with a pair of runs in the second inning after errors by Suns middle infielders Ivan DeJesus and Juan Gonzalez. They were both unearned and were the only blemish on Kershaw, who lasted 5 2/3 innings. The unlucky lefty needed just one more out to have been around for the Suns big inning. Instead, he took a no-decision and the win went in relief to Rick Asadoorian.

The Biscuits and Suns meet in the middle game of the series Monday evening at 7:05.
