Biscuits hold on for 3-2 win
Montgomery takes 2-1 series lead in Tennessee

7th: Andrus' single gives Montgomery the lead

Kodak, Tenn. – Erold Andrus' two-run single in the seventh inning ameliorated a blown lead by the Montgomery Biscuits' bullpen at Smokies Park Wednesday, leading the visiting club to a 3-2 win over the Tennessee Smokies.

The win gave Montgomery the series edge against the Cubs affiliate.

James Houser started for the Biscuits, matching his last start by throwing five scoreless innings. He allowed only two singles, and no Smokies runner ventured beyond second base. Houser had a 1-0 lead when he departed, having thrown 74 pitches.

The Biscuits had eight hits against Tennessee starter Donnie Veal in his 5 2/3 innings, but they needed only one of them to provide Houser the lead. Matt Spring's second-inning solo homer was his first of the season and Montgomery's only run against Veal.

The Smokies took advantage once Houser departed, as Chris Colvin smashed a two-run homer to center against reliever Jeff Kamrath in the sixth. That lead lasted until Andrus' soft liner to right field scored Josh Asanovich and Rashad Eldridge.

Kamrath took a blown save but got the win, while the loss went to Tennessee reliever Jesse Estrada. Jino Gonzalez struck out two in a perfect 1 1/3-inning stint to earn his first save.

The Biscuits and Smokies meet for another morning game Thursday at 10:30 Central time, as Montgomery righty Richard De Los Santos takes the hill.
