Biscuits drop third straight, 9-2
Carolina takes four of five in series

Zebulon, N. Car. – The Montgomery Biscuits led the Carolina Mudcats after two innings on getaway day at Five County Stadium Sunday afternoon, but the home team scored eight unanswered runs on their way to a 9-2 win.

The Mudcats (7-3) already led 5-2 when they victimized the Biscuits with their second grand slam in as many days. This time it was Carolina left fielder Andrew Jenkins with a seventh-inning slam against reliever Jeff Kamrath. It was already the third grand slam Montgomery's bullpen has surrendered this season.

The Mudcats had constructed their lead with three runs on four hits in the third inning and a run in the fifth inning. Biscuits starter Mike Wlodarczyk lasted 4 1/3 innings, allowing eight hits and five earned runs.

The Biscuits established a lead less than a minute into the game, when leadoff man Erold Andrus smashed a homer off of the scoreboard in right centerfield. Montgomery struck again in the second, when second baseman Josh Asanovich hit atwo-out single to score Rhyne Hughes, who had doubled.

Although the Biscuits had seven more hits after that inning, the Mudcats kept them off the plate. Starter Brett Sinkbeil lasted six innings to earn the win.

The Biscuits' 3-7 start ties their 2004 campaign for the slowest 10-game start in club history.

The Biscuits travel to Tennessee to begin a five game series on Monday. Jake McGee (0-1) will start the 6:15 CDT game.
