Biscuits Struggle in Clutch, Fall 4-2

Biscuits go 1-11 with runners in scoring position, strand 12

MONTGOMERY, Ala.- The Biscuits (62-54/26-22) rallied in the ninth inning and brought the tying run to the plate but fell to the Jackson Generals (68-49/26-21) 4-2 Friday night at Riverwalk.

Ty Morrison ripped a one-out triple in the ninth inning off Logan Bawcom. After Mikie Mahtook struck out, Michael Sheridan drew a walk to bring the winning run to the plate with two outs. Jackson reliever Yoervis Medina (4) came in and threw one pitch to get Derek Dietrich to pop out and end the game.

C.J. Riefenhauser (0-1) made his first double-A start and allowed four runs on eight hits through 4.1 innings in the loss. The left-hander allowed fell victim to the long-ball. Johermyn Chavez hit a two-run shot in the second inning to give the Generals a 2-0 lead. Stefen Romero hit a solo home run in the fifth inning to give Jackson a 4-1 lead.

The Biscuits totaled seven hits in the game, but were 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position and stranded 12 men on base.

Kyeong Kang finished the night 2-for-4 with an RBI. Mikie Mahtook (above) hit a solo home run in the fifth inning, his third home run for the Biscuits.

Game four in the series will be Saturday night at 7:05. RHP Matt Buschmann will start for the Biscuits while LHP Steve Garrison will start for the Generals.
