Offense Cold Again in 3rd-Straight Loss
Suns climb to within a game of the Biscuits in 7-1 decision
JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- The Biscuits (60-51/24-19) scored their first run in 22 innings but still lost for the third night in a row in a 7-1 defeat by the Jacksonville Suns (56-57/23-20) Sunday night at the Baseball Grounds.
Hak-Ju Lee (above) hit a home run to left field on the first pitch of the game, but the offense continued it's struggling ways the rest of the game. Other than the Lee home run, Montgomery never had a base-runner past second-base. The Biscuits have only scored one run in the last 29 innings and lost their third-consecutive game for the first time in the second-half.
The Suns quickly came back after the Lee home run in the first. Jacksonville scored two in the first inning and one in the second. Kyle Skipworth hit his second solo home run of the series to spark a three-run fifth inning.
Jake Thompson (7-10) lost for the fourth consecutive time. The right-hander allowed six runs on seven hits through four innings. Jacksonville starter, Bryan Evans (4-6), matched a season-high with eight strikeouts in addition to holding the Biscuits to one run on three hits over 5.1 innings for the win.
The Biscuits and Suns will be in action again Monday night at 6:05. RHP Matt Buschmann will get the start for Montgomery, while LHP Brian Flynn will start for Jacksonville.
