Braves Batter Biscuits to Even Series
Biscuits allow season high in runs in 14-5 loss
MONTGOMERY, Ala.- The Biscuits (58-47/22-15) allowed a season-high 14 runs including 12 runs in the last three innings in a 14-5 loss to the Mississippi Braves (46-60/16-20) Monday night at Riverwalk.
After the M-Braves grabbed a 4-3 lead in the seventh inning with an RBI-single from Todd Cunningham, Mississippi exploded for seven runs in the eighth inning. Phil Gosselin hit a three-run home run, while Joe Terdoslavich ripped a bases-clearing triple to give the M-Braves an 11-3 lead after the seventh. Mississippi scored three more runs in the ninth to jump out in front 14-5.
The game was close early. Mark Thomas hit an RBI-double in the second to tie the game at one. Michael Sheridan (above) launched a two-run home run in the sixth to give the Biscuits a 3-2 lead after trailing by one.
Montgomery's bullpen had given up eleven runs in the last 17 games, but surrendered ten runs in the loss to Mississippi. Kyle Lobstein (6-6) was tagged with the loss, allowing four runs in 6.1 innings.
Ty Morrison, Derek Dietrich and Thomas all finished with two hits. Hak-Ju Lee extended his on-base streak to 42 games with a triple in the fifth inning.
The middle-game of the series will be Tuesday at 7:05. RHP Jake Thompson will start for the Biscuits while M-Braves will send RHP J.R. Graham to the mound.
