Colome Shuts Down Generals in Win
Alex Colome tossed seven shutout innings in a 2-0 Biscuits win over Jackson
JACKSON, Tenn.- Alex Colome (7-3) tossed seven shutout innings in a 2-0 Biscuits (55-44/18-12) win over the Jackson Generals (59-41/17-13) in the series-opener Tuesday night at Pringles Park.
Colome battled Generals starter Brandon Maurer pitch-for-pitch. Colome scattered four hits while striking out six in his shutout performance. Maurer matched him with seven shutout innings of his own, including a season-high eight strikeouts.
The first run of the game did not come until the eighth inning. Jonathon Robles (1-3) got the first two outs of the eighth, but then walked the bases loaded. With the bases full, Robles balked in the Shawn O'Malley to give Montgomery the lead. Greg Sexton would add a solo HR in the top of the ninth to give the Biscuits a 2-0 advantage.
Chris Rearick (1) picked up his first Double-A save in only his second Double-A appearance. The lefty pitched a perfect ninth inning to close things out.
Hak-Ju Lee walked in his final at-bat to extend his on-base streak to 36 games, one shy of tying a Biscuits franchise record.
The Biscuits and Generals will be in action Wednesday afternoon. LHP Kyle Lobstein will start for the Biscuits while Jackson will counter with RHP Forrest Snow. First pitch is slated for noon.
