Lee's Triple Keys 4-Run 7th in 5-1 Win
Lee extends on-base streak to 34 in 5-1 win over Birmingham
HOOVER, Ala.- Hak-Ju Lee extended his on-base streak to 34 games with a bases-clearing triple in the seventh inning to lead the Biscuits (53-44/17-12) past the Birmingham Barons (44-54/14-15) 5-1 on Saturday night at Regions Park.
With the game tied at one in the seventh inning, Tyler Bortnick, Michael Sheridan and Brett Nommensen hit consecutive singles to give the Biscuits a 2-1 lead. After Kyeong Kang flew out to center, Mark Thomas walked to load the bases and set the table for Lee's triple in a four-run inning. The Biscuit shortstop is now three games shy of Evan Longoria's franchise-record 37-game on-base streak.
Matt Buschmann (4-5) tossed six innings and only surrendered one run on three hits for the win. Neil Schenk and Kirby Yates continued the dominant bullpen-work with a combined three scoreless-innings to finish off the game.
Greg Sexton hit an RBI-double in the fourth inning to tie the game at one as a part of a 2-for-4 night.
The series finale will be Sunday afternoon at 4:00 pm. RHP Nick Barnese will start for Montgomery while Birmingham will send RHP Jacob Petricka to the hill.
