Early Lead Boosts Biscuits Back to 1st
Biscuits score 4 in 1st, never look back in 6-0 win over the BayBears
MONTGOMERY, Ala.- The Biscuits (50-41/14-9) collected 12 hits in support of five shutout innings from Jake Thompson in a 6-0 win over the Mobile BayBears (50-43/10-13) Saturday night at Riverwalk.
The Biscuits brought nine batters to the plate and swatted five hits to score four runs in the first inning off starter David Holmberg (2-2). Ryan Garko had an RBI-single while Greg Sexton added an RBI-double to give Montgomery a 3-0 lead. Mobile's second baseman David Nick committed an error that allowed the fourth and final run of the inning to score. The Biscuits added two more runs in the sixth inning.
Jake Thompson (7-6) scattered seven hits but held the BayBears scoreless through five innings to pick up the win. Joe Cruz, Marquis Fleming and Adam Liberatore combined to pitch the final four innings without surrendering a run. The Biscuits have gone 20-consecuitve innings without allowing an earned run.
Hak-Ju Lee (above) went 3-for-5 extending his on-base streak to 28 games.Sexton also had a three-hit game with a 3-for-4 night.
Game two in the series will be Sunday night at 6:05. RHP Matt Buschmann will start for the Biscuits while the BayBears will counter with RHP Derek Eitel.
