Biscuits Pitching Fans 12 in Nail-Biting 2-1 Win
Colome records 9 K's over 6 shutout innings to beat Jacksonville
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Biscuits (49-40/13-8) pitching matched a season-high with 12 strikeouts to overcome nine walks and beat the Jacksonville Suns (41-50/8-13) 2-1 Thursday at the Baseball Grounds.
Alex Colome (5-3) fired six three-hit, shutout innings to pick up the win. He struck out nine, but walked a season-high six. Marquis Fleming inherited a bases loaded, no-out jam in the seventh from Shane Dyer, but get out of it with only one run allowed before Kirby Yates (8) fired a pair of scoreless innings to pick up the save.
The Biscuits broke a scoreless tie against Jacksonville starter Matt Neil (1-5) with a two-out RBI-single from Brett Nommensen in the fifth, and added one in the sixth on an Omar Luna sac-fly.
Hak-Ju Lee's record-setting 21-game hitting-streak came to an end with an 0-for-3 performance.
Luna led the Biscuits with a 2-3 night.
A pair of lefties will face off Friday at 6:05 CT with Kyle Lobstein going for the Biscuits against Jacksonville's James Leverton.
