Lee Keeps Streak Alive While Generals Even Series
Lee (above) extended his hitting-streak to 19 games in a 8-3 loss to the Generals
MONTGOMERY, Ala.- Hak-Ju Lee extended his Southern League-leading hitting-streak to 19 games in an 8-3 Biscuits (47-39/11-7) loss to the Jackson Generals (52-36/10-8) Sunday night at Riverwalk.
After striking out in his first at-bat of the game, Lee saw 12-straight balls in his next three at-bats, walking three times. His last chance to extend the streak was in the bottom of the ninth with Kyeong Kang on first. Lee hit a groundball deep in the hole at short that Gabriel Noriega back-handed. The shortstop then spun and tossed an off-balance throw to second just after Kang slid in safely.
Jake Thompson (6-6) struggled in his third start of the season against the Generals. Jackson tagged Thompson for five runs on ten hits in five innings to hand the right-hander the loss. The ten hits allowed are a season-high for Thompson.
The Biscuits started to climb back into the game with two runs in the seventh inning cutting the score to 5-3 Jackson. Joe Dunigan then hit a two-run home in the eighth to put the game out of reach.
The series finale between the Biscuits and Generals will be Monday night at 7:05. RHP Matt Buschmann will start for Montgomery while Jackson will send out LHP Anthony Fernandez.
