Thompson Dominates as Biscuits Salvage Final Game
Thompson gives up 1 run over 7 innings, Biscuits use 5-run 6th to beat Generals 6-1
JACKSON, Tenn. – Jake Thompson held the Jackson Generals (49-34) to one unearned run on two singles over seven innings, and Mike Sheridan's four-hit night helped the Biscuits salvage the final game of the series by a final of 6-1 Tuesday at Pringles Park.
Thompson (6-5) got his sixth win in his last eight starts, striking out only three but limiting the Generals to a single in the first and a single in the fourth, with Jackson plating its only run of the night in the third. Adam Liberatore pitched the final two scoreless innings despite the Generals loading the bases in the ninth.
The Biscuits took their first lead of the series with a five-run sixth, getting two-run doubles from Omar Luna and Tyler Bortnick against Moises Hernandez (4-1). Sheridan contributed a single in the frame, one of his three singles to go along with a double on his four-hit night, only the second for a Biscuit in 2012.
Jackson starter James Paxton took a no-decision, hurling four shutout innings.
The Biscuits return home for an Independence Day battle with the Mobile BayBears beginning at 6:05. Matt Buschmann of the Biscuits will face BayBears right-hsasnded Derek Eitel.
