Generals Silence Biscuit Bats to Take Opener

Colome struggles again in 7-2 Jackson win

JACKSON, Tenn. – Taylor Stanton faced the minimum through 4.2 innings and the Jackson Generals (48-33) silenced the Biscuits' (43-36) previously-hot bats 7-2 Sunday night at Pringles Park.

Stanton (3-2), who entered the game with a plus-7 ERA, left after five shutout innings having allowed just two singles and a walk. In the meantime, the Generals battered Biscuits starter Alex Colome (3-3) for five runs on ten hits over five innings, handing the right-hander his second-straight rough outing. After scoring single runs in the first and the second, back-to-back doubles from Denny Almonte and Stefen Romero keyed a three-run fifth for the Generals.

Ty Morrison and Ryan Garko both contributed two-hit performances, with Morrison extending his hit-streak to 11 games, and Hak-Ju Lee tripling in his final at-bat to extend his streak to 12 games. Morrison is now 10-for-his-last-14.

The Biscuits scored single runs in the eighth and in the ninth to avoid the shutout.

The Biscuits and Generals will play the middle game of the three-game set Monday night at 7:05. Lefty Kyle Lobstein will toss for the Biscuits against Generals right-handed Forrest Snow.
