Top of the Order Paces Biscuits to Series Win

Top 3 in Biscuits order go 9-14 in 8-6 win over the Suns

MONTGOMERY, Ala.- The Biscuits (42-35) slugged double-digit hits for the sixth consecutive game, riding an outburst from the top of the order to an 8-6 win over the Jacksonville Suns on Friday night at Riverwalk Stadium.

Hak-Ju Lee tied the game at four with an RBI-single in the fourth inning. Ty Morrison (above) followed with a two-run home run to give the Biscuits their first lead of the night. Morrison finished the game 3-for-4 with four runs scored, three RBI and a single short of the cycle.

The Biscuits worked around a three-run first inning for the Suns off Joe Cruz (6-6). Despite walking a franchise-record seven batters, Cruz finished the game with the win giving up four runs in five innings. Montgomery came back with two runs in the bottom half of the first. After Jacksonville extended their lead to 4-2 in the second inning, the Biscuits scored the next six runs of the game. Curt Smith hit a two-run home run in the ninth before Adam Liberatore struck out Jeff Dominguez to end the game.

Lee, Morrison and Omar Luna all finished with three hits while Montgomery totaled 14 base-knocks on the night. Tyler Bortnick's RBI-single in the second inning extended his hitting-streak to 15 games.

Graham Taylor (4-7) gave up six runs and ten hits over five innings for the loss.

The series finale between the Biscuits and Suns will be Saturday at 7:05. RHP Nick Barnese will start for Montgomery while Jacksonville will send out RHP Matthew Neil.
