Biscuits Derailed in Seventh, Lose 7-4
Smokies scored six runs in seventh during comeback win
MONTGOMERY, Ala.- The Biscuits (31-27) led the Tennessee Smokies (25-33) for six innngs, but a Tennessee, six-run seventh inning was the difference in a 7-4 Smokies win Monday night at Riverwalk Stadium.
The Smokies brought 11 hitters to the plate during the seventh inning that saw three different Biscuits pitchers combine for four walks and four hits. Justin Bour delt the knockout blow in the frame with a bases loaded double that cleared the bases. Scott Shuman (0-1) was tagged with two runs and the loss, while Frank De Los Santos was charged with four runs all coming from the seventh inning.
Hak-Ju Lee gave the Biscuits an early lead with a lead-off home run in the first innning. It was Lee's first home run of the season. The Biscuits would add another run in the sixth inning and two runs in the eigth before Alberto Cabrera (5) shut the door in the ninth.
The Biscuits got another good start from Matt Buschmann. The sinker-baller allowed one run on four hits in six innings. Buschmann has allowed a combined three runs in the last 19 innings pitched. Marcus Hatley (2-1) picked up the win for the Smokies.
With only 12 games remaining in the first half, the Biscuits sit one game out of first place in the Southern Division.
Game four between the Biscuits and Smokies will be Tuesday night at 7:05. RHP Jake Thompson will get the start for Montgomery, while Tennessee has LHP Eric Jokish scheduled to start.
