Record-Tying Inning Defines Blowout Win

Biscuits score 10 in the 6th inning of 16-3 win over Generals

MONTGOMERY, Ala.- The Biscuits (26-23) matched a franchise record by scoring ten runs in the sixth inning to dismantle the Jackson Generals (28-21) 16-3 and claim Montgomery's fifth-consecuite series-win Saturday night at Riverwalk Stadium.

Tyler Bortnick (above) put the finishing touch on the record-tying inning with a two-run double to left centerfield plating the ninth and tenth runs of the frame. The Biscuits sent 14 hitters to the plate in the sixth while seven different players tallied at least one RBI. Omar Luna had two hits, two RBI and scored two runs in the inning.

Every player in Montgomery's lineup had at least one hit in the game while seven players finished with multipe hits. Luna led the way going 3-5. Emeel Salem went 2-2 and reached all five times he came to the plate.

Alex Colome made his first start after being activated from the disabled list. Colome went four innings, allowed three runs on six hits while striking out four and not walking a batter. Merrill Kelly (2-0) pitched three scoreless innings while striking out two in his second win of the year.

Jandy Sena (1-1) faced six batters in the sixth inning and did not record an out. The big right-hander was charged with six runs (five earned runs) in the loss.

The Biscuits and Generals will play the series finale Sunday afternoon at 2:05. Reigning Pitcher of the Week Kyle Lobstein will start for Montgomery while Jackson will send out the top prospect in the Mariners organization RHP Taijuan Walker.
