Sheridan Walk-Off Homer Wins it in 12

Biscuits beat Generals 2-1 to stay perfect in extras this year

MONTGOMERY, Ala.- Michael Sheridan (above) sent a drive over the right-field fence in the 12th inning to give the Biscuits (24-22) a 2-1 walk-off victory over the Jackson Generals (27-19) Wednesday night at Riverwalk Stadium, their fourth in-a-row.

Biscuits' starter Joe Cruz put together his best outing of the season in a game where he was matched up with one of the top pitchers in the Southern League in Danny Hultzen. Cruz tossed six scoreless innings while striking out a season-high eight. Hultzen was equally as dominant totalling 12 strikeouts in six innings. The Biscuits got one run off Hultzen with an RBI-double from Ryan Garko in the fourth inning, while the Generals plated their lone tally in the seventh against Marquis Fleming.

In his first appearance after elbow surgery, Zach Quate (1-0) pitched the final two scoreless innings for the Biscuits to earn the win. Montgomery's pitching staff has now held opponents to two runs over the last 39 innings. Yoervis Medina (1-4) allowed the home run to Sheridan in the loss.

The Generals and Biscuits both struggled offensively, going a combined 1-21 with runners in scoring position, with Jackson stranding 14 runners. The two teams combined for 31 strikeouts in the 12 inning marathon. The Biscuits' 17 strikeouts offensively matched a franchise record.

The Biscuits and Generals will be in action again Thursday night at 7:05. RHP Matt Buschmann will start for Montgomery while Jackson will send out LHP Steve Garrison.
