Garko's 11th-Inning Double Gives Biscuits 1-0 Win
Biscuits hold Barons to 2 hits in 1-0 win

HOOVER, Ala.- Ryan Garko ripped a two-out double down the left field line in the 11th inning to score Michael Sheridan in a 1-0 Biscuits (22-22) victory over the Birmingham Barons (22-22) Saturday night at Regions Park.

Both pitching staffs dominated through 11 innings, but it was the combined two-hit shutout effort from Merrill Kelly, Frank De Los Santos, Kirby Yates and Neil Schenk (1-0) that outlasted the Barons to guide the Biscuits to their fourth series win in a row.

Kelly tossed five scoreless innings while striking out five and only allowing one hit in his second start of the year. De Los Santos, Yates and Schenk each added two shutout innings in the win.

Sheridan reached on a two-out, pinch-hit walk against Henry Mabee (3-2) to keep the inning alive for Garko's game-winner.

Baron's starter Pedro Hernandez threw seven shutout innings while only allowing three hits in a no decision.

With the victory, the Biscuits move back to five-hundred for the first time since April 24th and position themselves 2.5 games behind the first place Mobile BayBears.

The series finale between the Biscuits and Barons will be Sunday at 4 pm. LHP Kyle Lobstein will get the nod for Montgomery while LHP Jose Quintana will start for Birmingham.
