Lee and the Biscuits Walk-Off Winners
Dyer throws 7 1-hit innings, Biscuits win it on Lee's 9th inning single
MONTGOMERY, Ala.- Shane Dyer (4-2) threw seven innings of one-hit baseball and Hak-Ju Lee's (above) bases loaded, walk-off single lifted the Biscuits (19-20) past the Jacksonville Suns (18-21) 3-2 Monday night at Riverwalk Stadium.
Michael Sheridan led off the 9th inning with a single to left field. A sacrifice bunt from Greg Sexton moved the winning run into scoring position. Brad Coon was walked intentionally, then Mark Thomas followed with a four-pitch walk to load the bases and set the stage for Lee'swalk-off hit.
Dyer becamse the first Biscuit to pitch through seven complete innings. The right-hander only allowed one run and one walk while striking out a season-high five batters in the no-decision. Kyle Jensen's solo home run in the second inning snapped Dyer's streak of consecutive innings without an earned run at 13. Aside from the solo home run, no Suns player reached past first base against Dyer.
Jacksonville tied the game at 2-2 after a costly error in the 9th inning. With runners on first and second and one out, Jensen hit a groundball to first base that Sheridan tossed into left field to allow the tying run to score. Sheridan would later score the winning run.
Adam Liberatore (3-2) got the win by tossing the final two innings of the game despite the blown save. Kyle Kominska (4-2) suffered the loss for the Suns.
Lee finished the game 3-5 while Sheridan and Omar Luna both finished the game with two hits each.
The Biscuits and Suns will play the serie-finale Tuesday morning at 10:35. Montgomery will send LHP Kyle Lobstein to the mound while Jacksonville sill send out RHP Omar Poveda.
