Four walks, two doubles and a homer give Biscuits biggest inning of the year
MONTGOMERY, Ala.- Kyeong Kang hit a three-run home run in a 7-run first inning to lead the Biscuits (8-9) past the Blue Wahoos 7-1 Saturday night at Riverwalk Stadium.
Curtis Partch (0-2) walked the first three batters in the first inning. Henry Wrigley and Michael Sheridan then followed with back-to-back two-run doubles. Kang capped off the scoring onslaught with a three-run home run to give the Biscuits a 7-1 lead.
Shane Dyer (2-1) made his first appearance since a short one-inning outing during the home opener last Sunday. Dyer went five innings while only surrendering one run and striking out two. Curtis Partch (0-2) suffered the loss for the Wahoos (8-9).
Merrill Kelly extended his streak of innings facing the minimum to six after throwing three shutout innings in relief of Dyer. Scott Shuman struck out the side in the 9th inning to close out the game.
The 7-1 victory was only the third Biscuits win in 10 games when the opponent scored first.
Michael Sheridan (above) continued swinging a hot bat going 2-4 with 2 RBI. Cole Figueroa extended his on-base streak to 17 games.
Game three between the Biscuits and Wahoos will be at 5:05 Sunday evening. Montgomery will start LHP Frank De Los Santos (1-1, 2.38) while Pensacola will send RHP Daniel Corcino (0-1, 4.61) to the mound.
